Pray and ask for guidance

• You can ask for help for your self
• Remember, your faithfulness is in turn a promise of prosperity
• Ask to have the wisdom needed to succeed in the position.
• Ask for the help of the Holy Ghost to know if this job is right for you.

Make a list of qualities that you need to succeed in that position.

• Example: knowledgeable, assertiveness, energetic, thoughtfulness, etc.

Make plans to brush up on those qualities you may need help with.

• Ask someone to role-play with you.
• Work through a scenario until you feel comfortable with it.
• Look up key words in the scripture dictionary to gain strength.
• Pray about those qualities and how you reflect them.

Think about what you have to offer to the employer

• Be prepared to verbally list what you can offer to the prospective employer

Start visualizing your self in the position you are looking for.

• Exercise: Look at yourself in the mirror.
  
  • Pretend your image is the employer.
  • Smile and shake their hand.
  • Start every day by telling your mirror image, ”I like myself, I like myself”!
  • Do it until you start to grin.

Grooming your way to the top.

• Use deodorant of some kind
• Fragrance should be used sparingly.
• Find a hairstyle that is flattering and easy to duplicate.
• Make sure your nails are clean and well groomed
• Ladies; cosmetics can be used to enhance your natural beauty.
• Men: facial hair needs to be groomed or shaved.

Dress for success

Clean and pressed clothing reflects good self-esteem.

• Choose clothing that fits well. Too tight or baggy is distracting

• Suits and ties for men and suits or dresses for ladies.

• Men can wear cotton twill slacks with shirt, sweater or jacket.
• Ladies can choose slacks or skirts with coordinating pieces.
• Jeans are appropriate for outdoor jobs and manual labor work interviews only.
• Shoes need cleaned, polished and scuffs covered with a marker.
• Hose or socks are appropriate.

Wear your best smile

Remember appearance is only superficial but it does reflect how you feel about your self and shows respect for your employer. The most important thing you can bring to an interview is a great smile and a positive attitude.
