- Resources for lectures in Pulawy, Poland: July 10-17, 2009.
- Friday, July 10th: For a basic introduction to music technology software, I have a web site that summarizes it for everybody at: http://www.kuzmich.com/handouts/iaje_clinic.102.html which I can update for the clinic presentation.
- Internet resources could also be utilized since there is so much information available. Such as free ear training web-based software at: http://www.musictheory.net which can also be downloaded for free as well. Another good free one is: http://www.changes98.com. Every jazz student and jazz educator needs to know this free web site.
- Jazz resources: http://www.kuzmich.com/handouts/bookmarks.html.
- Saturday, July 11th: Listen to recordings of Pulawy combos at: http://www.kuzmich.com/Pulawy.html. Clinic topic is: "

- Valuable Multimedia Compression Formas for Recording:
- Sunday, July 12th: Jazz Improvisation Concepts: My "Breaking The Improvisational Barrier Without An Axe" is an excellent clinic/article on how to teach the basics of improvisation at: July, 2008 issue: http://www.kuzmich.com/articles/improvisation.pdf.
- Monday, July 13th:: Band-In-Box automaticaccompaniment generating software at: http://www.pgmusic.com and SEPTEMBER 2004
Automatic Accompaniment Generators. For a fast way to learn how to use the major features in Band-In-A-Box, go to: http://www.kuzmich.com/Band_In_A_Box Tutorial.pdf. For use nifty lessons, go to: http://www.pgmusic.com/songsandlessonsPAK.htm. For an example of Band-In-A-Box being saved as an audio file for web posting, go to: Dr. "K" on Bb Clarinet jamming for 1.13 minutes on the Bb Shuffle Blues by Jamey Aebersold. It could take 2 to 3 minutes for a 28.8 baud modem connection to read this MP3 audio file (517k) in 22 kHz stereo fidelity.
Drummers need play-along also. Here are some suggetions. Hal Leonard Publishing has a new series of Big Band play-alongs, but the drums just play along with the CD. They are about a grade 3 in difficulty. You get the drum part and a recording of the band.
There are about 10 tunes on each volume. I just listed the better ones.
Vol 1 Swing
Vol 3 Ellington
Vol 4 Jazz Classics
Vol 7 Standards
Also, Louie Bellson has a big band CD: "Their Time Was The Greatest".
Hal Leonard Puiblishing and Jamey Aebersold have all their books & recordings that work for combos. Vol 114 from Aebersold is designed as Rhythm background set.
The Snidero Jazz Conception books & CDs are also good for combo playing.
Also, from Aebersold are the following for drum play-along in the combo style:
Drummer: Masters of Time
Killer Joe (Vol 70) Drum play-along
Maiden Voyage (Vol 54) Drum play-along
Standard Time Drum style play-along
At this time I am not sure of the MMO recordings. The ones I saw are just in the combo style.
Gordon Goodwin has at least two big-band play-alongs that rock published by http://www.alfred.com
- Tuesday, July 13th: Elevation transcribing software at: http://www.superscopetechnologies.com which slows down the playback of a recording slower so one can transcribe solos easier. Transcribing has always been the direct way to learn from the masters of jazz improvisation but also very tedious. Read the MARCH 2001 http://www.kuzmich.com/SBOMarch2001.html article about the concepts of transcribing techniques. Through technology, transcribing software is a fast, efficient way to learn more about how Elevation works by watching 2 minute Flash movies at::

- Miss IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators)? Below is an interesting web site that provides a nice history of the now-defunct organization, along with solid related resource links. Even if it's not the perfect swap-out for the site, I think it might be a fine additional resource for your page. http://www.samedaymusic.com/library--jazzeducationassoc
