There is an opportunity for students who have finished their daily and/or weekly work to undertake some creative computer projects for the Carmody staff, administrators and teams. When these students finish their daily/weekly assignments, it is possible to assign these students to undertake special assignments for Carmody staff and to be rewarded extra-credit . Here a list of applications that Dr. Data's 8th grade computer class students can do for individual Carmody staff members. He prefers having students working with computer graphics and artistic layout design rather than just having them doing straight-typing.
Recently, Mr. Tomjack needed flyers for his two clubs, and he got lucky and within an hour he had a 15+ flyers in color. Students who do these projects will earn substantial extra credit for each project completed because it will benefit Carmody Middle School. The amount of credit will vary on the complexity of the project. With practice, my 8th grade computer students will gain confidence and real-work experience using computers as they contribute to the Carmody environment. In some cases, selected students will work with faculty members before starting the project to precisely meet your project's expectations. Hope this helps both the students and the Carmody faculty members. Talented students who participate in these extra-credit projects can also apply to be a student assistants next semester specializing in creative computer generated projects for Carmody.
P.S. Ms. Kathi Smith already has submitted a two-page newsletter that she wants done ASAP. And Dr. Data already have the data file for someone to fix it up for her. Mrs. Crest would like some award certificates produced for her students. Mrs. Carlson has expressed interest in some projects. P.S.S. Dr. Data does have a few 7th graders who are now qualified to do some straight-typing for teachers for extra-credit! |
