Dear Carmody 7th Grade Elective Computer Class Students and Parents.

Good and not so-good news to share.

  1. Good news: Carmody Parent Portale will be operating to parents and students by Octobe 24th. Finally, you can review all grades from all of your child's teachers 24/7 in ten days or less from now!!!. That should make a huge difference in being well informed about what assignments/tests need to be updated for better grades. Dr. Data will post grades everyday before leaving school to help make this system work for your benefit.

Until that happens, the simplest way to assess your child's progress is to identify what assignments they have typed and submitted. For the word processing unit, go to: http://www.kuzmich.com/carmody/claris_syllabus.html and check off every assignment that your child verifies that was indeed submitted to the in-basket for their class assignments. Although this system isn't perfect, it will provide insight on what's being accomplished. Today is a makeup day after students take their two typing tests. Monday, October 17;, 2005 will be day #17 of the word processing unit.
  2. More good news. First grading period report cards for Dr. Data will be redone again sometime next week.

  3. Better-new Carmody Middle School web site for the 7th Grade Elective Computer Classes is at: http://sc.jeffco.k12.co.us/education/staff/staff.php?sectiondetailid=98057&sc_id=1129152153. It directly links to the class web site with specific links to make it easier to do all of your school browsing at the Carmody school web site at http://sc.jeffco.k12.co.us/education/school/school.php?sectionid=280 and then go directly to Dr. Data's classes without having to leave the Carmody web site.

  4. Not so-good news: Some students are not necessarily completing/submitting their daily assignments and tests to Dr. Data. All classes have been given three days notice that as of Monday, October 17;, 2005, Dr. Data will be calling parents during class period to share reality of what's beginning done and what's not. Everybody in need of making up assignments has the assighnments to do at home this weekend or can download them at: http://www.kuzmich.com/carmody/claris_syllabus.html

  5. Carmody's Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences of October 11-12, 2005 were a big success. Many parents accurately now know and understand the status of their child's work for both second grading period and the entire semester thus far.

  6. Soon we will be going to the database unit which you can peruse at: http://www.kuzmich.com/carmody/database_syllabus.html. Please be aware that the database unit can't be made up at home because one needs access to the Camrody databases in room #110. However, you can make arrangements with Dr. Data to make up unfinished/missing database assignments Monday through Friday by appointment.

  7. Note: Korean Pen Pal letters are being mailed on Friday to Seoul, Korea. Please bring photos and any missing pen pal letters to conference so we can package the letters accordingly in the box being sent. If anyone needs to send their child's pen pal to Korea after Friday, please mail it directly to:

    Mr. Young Hun SHIN
    Pen Pal Coordinator
    Kweang-Ju P.O. Box 160
    Seoul. Korea 501-600

The postage rate is $1.00 per ounce.

  8. Good news! The All The Right typing applications have arrived and all ordered CD applications were given to parents at Parent-Teacher Conference.

Hope this information is helpful.

Till next time,

Dr. Data
