Digital Recording with Band-In-A-Box Software and A Supercope CD Burner!
by John Kuzmich, Jr.
- Connect a PC computer with a microphone to the soundcard.
- Connect the speaker output plugs of the computer to a Marantz CD Recorder/CD Player, model CDR500.
- Open Band-In-A-Box and write the chord progression of the composition to be recorded with a soloist. Be sure to identify
the musical style, key and tempo as well.
- With the newly created composition open, select recording icon and set up the parameters for analog recording of an acoustic instrument. Band-In-A-Box will convert the analog monophonic sounds
to a .WAV file.
- Record the soloist and when satisfied with the newly created/recorded solo, save the composition as both a Band-In-A-Box file and as
a .WAV file. Click on the .WAV icon to save the composition and its analog soloist to a .WAVE file.
- you can play back the track and simultaneously record directly on a CD-R. For specific instructions on
how to burn a CD, please see the step-by-step instructions at:
Superscope PAC 770/CDR-500
- You now a combo recording on your computer's hard disk drive as well as a freshly "burned" audio CD recording.
- To post this recording to a web page, use Easy CD-DA Extractor software by Poikosoft Software to convert the
rather large .WAV file to a compressed MP3 file. Easy CD-DA Extractor software can compress the .WAV file from mono 22 kHz at 8 bits
all the way up to stereo 44 kHz at 320 bits. The audio quality will vary significantly as will the size of the
compressed MP3 file. Suggest that the recording be about one minute in length for quick and easy audio streaming over the Internet.
